Texas Governor Greg Abbott today, Thursday, December 16, sent a letter to the US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin stating firmly that the Texas National Guard will not undergo the Biden Administration’s Federal vaccine mandate.
Recently, the Secretary of Defense threatened to cut off federal dollars for “unvaccinated guardsmen”. This letter is a reminder that in August of this year the Governor issued his Executive Order GA-39 which prohibits imposing a mandated vaccine order from any governmental agency in Texas, that order would include the Feds.
“As Governor of Texas, I am the commander-in-chief of this State’s militia,” reads the letter. “In that capacity, on October 4, 2021, I ordered the Adjutant General of Texas to comply with my Executive Order GA-39. If unvaccinated guardsmen suffer any adverse consequences within the State of Texas, they will have only President Biden and his Administration to blame. The State of Texas will not enforce this latest COVID-19 vaccine mandate against its guardsmen. If the federal government keeps threatening to defund the Texas National Guard, I will deploy every legal tool available to me as Governor in defense of these American heroes.”

The Governor also states in that letter that he will use every legal means to support his decisions when it comes to vaccine mandates if necessary. The Feds should also note that the Biden Administration has had a dismal court record when it comes to vaccine mandates and border issues of late.
