Chamber, Flower Fields hold Green Expo

The community is invited to a Green Expo, sponsored by the Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce and The Flower Field, to mark the 52nd anniversary of Earth Day in North County. The event will showcase green business practices and how it pays to be green. The expo runs from 2-7 p.m. April 20 at The Flower Fields, 5704 Paseo Del Norte, with a 21-and-older happy hour from 5-7 p.m. Donation is $12 to benefit The Flower Fields Foundation, which provides education programs for children. Local resident joins JA board

Maggie Leone, vice president and relationship banker of the La Jolla Commercial Banking Division of City National Bank, was recently appointed to the board of directors of Junior Achievement of San Diego County. Leone, an Encinitas resident, joins 44 business and community leaders on the board. Leone is very active in the community, volunteering with numerous San Diego nonprofits, including the San Diego Food Bank and Habitat for Humanity. She graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in anthropology and classical studies from the University of Pennsylvania and completed post graduate accounting coursework at UC Berkeley. JA teaches young people how to get a job, start a business and how to manage money. In the 2020-2021 school year, Junior Achievement of San Diego County reached more than 11,500 students in 250 schools and after-school programs.

Jellybear snack kit helps animal rescue group

Jellybear Jelly Company is helping the nonprofit Hoofs and Woofs animal rescue with a jelly-tasting fundraiser through April. Owner Matthew Weathersby is offering a little go bag containing a mini jar of his jam or jelly, a packet of peanut butter and some crackers, available for a donation of your choosing. Green Transpo Expo coming up

The Greater Escondido Chamber of Commerce will host a Green Transpo Expo at Westfield North County Mall on April 23, with events starting at 9 a.m. The expo focuses on trending ideas in transportation, from how the world is shifting from gas to electric fleets, to how to convert your home to accommodate this transition. A “Cars & Coffee” meetup runs from 9-11 a.m. with free coffee and doughnuts from local businesses. Car enthusiasts and car clubs are encouraged to attend. The main event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., with vendors and an educational forum with presenters from SDG&E, the Electric Vehicle Association of San Diego, ALIVE Solar, and more. Rad Power Bikes will be on hand to test-ride bikes, and organizers will give away one Rad E-Bike at the end of the event. Online registration is encouraged but not necessary to attend. Workforce Partnership holds two job fairs

The San Diego Workforce Partnership is hiring and has scheduled two job fairs. The partnership offers services, custom programs and targeted initiatives to not only help people find jobs, but to connect what they know and love with careers that align with their talents. Come dressed to impress with your resume and ready to interview on the spot. Two fairs are available: from 3-5 p.m. April 20 and from 9-11 a.m. April 23.
