Not all age groups can watch James Bond movies because although the content is captivating, it is primarily meant for the adult audiences. However, there are tons of good-quality spy thrillers meant for all age groups and we’ve enlisted the seven names you must watch with the kids of the house. These films involve car chases, evil villains, cool gadgets and all the other interesting elements that make them a fun watch.

Parents will even find themselves watching these lighthearted comedies along with the little ones, and well, they might find their children pretending to be the ultimate secret agent!

1) Spies in Disguise (2019)

You will be in for a treat and a rollercoaster ride while watching the animated hit Spies in Disguise. It is voiced by the MCU actor – Tom Holland, who voiced the role of Walter Beckett, a young scientist tasked with helping a renowned secret agent. When secret agent Lance Sterling (Will Smith) is accused of being a traitor, he searches for Walter for his concealment invention.

Sterling unknowingly takes in a mixture that transforms him into a pigeon. Before Watler can develop a cure, the cyber-expert terrorist, Killian (Ben Mendelsohn) strikes. Not only do Sterling and Walter have to stop Killian, but they must avoid being captured by the H.T.U.V. secret agency.

Apart from being a thoroughly entertaining flick, Spies in Disguise imparts a couple of very important lessons. They show that teamwork is important because working together makes us stronger, one tends to listen to his/own differences, and eventually accomplishes a lot more in life by resolving conflicts. The movie also majorly revolves around a theme that violence does not solve all situations as it only causes mass destruction.

2) Cars 2 (2011)

Kids who are fond of watching vehicles race against one another and content that gives them an adrenaline rush, must sign up for Cars 2. The film boasts sequences that are sure to keep the little ones on the edge of their seats.

Star race car Lightning McQueen and the incomparable tow truck Mater take their friendship on the road from Radiator Springs to exciting new places when they head overseas to compete in the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours and hilarious surprises when Mater gets caught up in an intriguing adventure of his own – international espionage!

The characters, musical score, story, animation, mystery, feelings, laughs, great songs (including the song in the end credits), everything about the film is absolutely 100 per cent satisfying, incredible, and awesome!

3) Penguins of Madagascar (2014)

Madagascar movies are always a treat to watch and this penguin-version is no less than a laugh riot. The spinoff features kids’ favourite penguins (Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private) going on their own adventure where they team up with an elite fighting team called the North Wind to take down Donald (Dave the Octopus) from kidnapping penguins.

Penguins of Madagascar really takes the cake because of its fun-filled over-the-top laughs and action-packed explosions. The cute and cuddly penguins pull off one heck of a ride only to prove that DreamWorks always delivers top-notch content when it comes to family entertainment, just like Pixar.

The hilarious film from the makers of Madagascar shows how global espionage is for the birds as well! So, let us all join forces with the elite North Wind team to save the world. Well, the film is a side-splitting, globe-trotting adventure the whole family will love!

4) Cats & Dogs (2001)

Cats & Dogs will have child viewers looking at their beloved furry pet a little differently. The 2001 comedy movie’s main characters are cats and dogs who have a long-standing rivalry in espionage. The adorable furry characters combined with the use of a spy storyline will enthrall audiences.

The storyline is comical but full of drama as the cats and dogs of the neighborhood work in secret against each other. The main cat character hopes to stop the creation of a new vaccine that will rid humans of dog allergies. It’s up to a Beagle and his comrades to stop the cats from executing their plan.

It will be safe to say that Cats & Dogs is a good mix of James Bond and Men in Black! The clever film is a fun watch full of honest characters. The attention to detail and storytelling is superlative, which makes the movie an underrated masterpiece.

5) Big Hero 6 (2014)

Big Hero 6 is the first Disney animated feature to be adapted from characters that feature in Marvel’s comic books; and the mixing of two fan-favourite content turned out to be superb. The movie not only went on to become the highest-grossing animated movie of 2014, but it also bagged the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film that year.

The film follows a robotics prodigy, Hiro Hamada, who gets nudged in the right direction by his brother. However, when Hiro’s brother dies, Hiro decides to team up with his friends and Baymax, a robot, to form a group of high-tech superheroes for revenge. The film was praised for its smooth pacing and Disney’s characteristic, heart-touching tone.

The impressive plot is funny, enjoyable and boasts a mature theme. The story is well-written, engaging and includes various scenes that will appeal not just the little ones but the older audiences as well. The visuals are more developed than Disney’s computer-animated movies that were released before Big Hero 6 and the animation is quite detailed.

6) Despicable Me (2010)

Despicable supervillains have a change of heart too. Despicable Me is a 2010 movie that takes this concept to new imaginative heights with the Steve Carell voiced character, Gru. It follows the criminal mastermind after he adopts three orphan girls as a part of his ploy to steal the moon and be recognized as the greatest thief in history.

However, his conscience gets challenged when the girls start to see him as their father. The film turned out to be extremely successful commercially and led to the creation of the Despicable Me franchise and also gave birth to the beloved minions.

Despite being far from reality, the story is amazing and thoroughly entertaining. What makes the movie so well-loved is the dynamic roster of characters. The hilarious flick is not just for kids, adults enjoy it even more. The interesting plot, humorous dialogues and laugh-out-loud acts keeps audiences engrossed throughout. The classic minion-movie took Illumination’s stakes higher as Despicable Me showed one man’s journey of being the most hated to finally finding love – thanks to three little girls!

7) Teen Titans Go! To The Movies (2018)

What is common between superheroes and spies? Well, both of them take on life-threatening missions to save the world. Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is an animated superhero movie based on characters from DC Comics. The film follows the teenage superheroes who head to Hollywood to be noticed by an A-list filmmaker as they want to join the bandwagon of superhero characters being represented in the movies.

However, this turns out to be a major distraction as the super-villain, Deathstroke hatches a plan to take over the planet. The film was noted for its combination of family-friendly and tongue-in-cheek humour combined with tap-worthy musical numbers and a surprisingly witty plot.

The movie surpasses its original predecessor and is a solid crossover overall. With a good plot, writing, animation, and an excellent balance of humour and action, Teen Titans Go! To The Movies is a must-watch kids’ spy thriller. The film is a shining example of how to please longtime fans without relying too hard on nostalgia!
